Getah untuk Pribumi programme is one of MRB’s initiatives to improve national productivity to 2,000 kg/ha/year which is in line with NKEA. The objectives are:
Ten Orang Asli settlements covering an area of 97 hectares with 97 participants are involved in GUP Pahang. The selected villages are Kg Bertang (15 participants), Kg Kabang (10 participants), Kg Jelenggook (10 participants), Kg Sarang (11 participants), Kg Ulu Miot (9 participants), Kg Meter (7 participants), Kg Kuala Milot (10 participants), Kg Simoi (4 participants), Kg Lanchang (10 participants) and Kg Cekai (10 participants). Participants are supplied with high yielding clones such as RRIM 928, RRIM 2001 and RRIM 2023.
As of November, 92.0 hectares of land were cleared manually. However, about five hectares of land (50 participants) could not be planted with 500 rubber seedlings due to insufficient of cleared area during the clearing process. Clearing process and planting will be completed at end of December 2012.
As of September, 85.0 hectares of land were cleared manually and 62.0 hectares (64%) were planted with rubber seedlings.
Seven training session on the maintenance of seedlings in transit nursery, pruning, manuring practices, weedicide and pesticide were conducted.
As at July 2012, almost all fields have been cleared and parts of 48,500 rubber seedlings have been distributed to participants.
As of December, all participants have done the weed control and fertilization activities at their respective holdings. Briefings and demonstrations on control pruning was carried out from time to time to participants during the monitoring visits. Girth census was taken in December with the help of the participants, RMT committee and UPPg staffs.
It is reported that the management had sent an official letter to LGM Regional Director concerning one Kg. Kabang participant’s withdrawal that reduced the number of total participants in GUP Pahang to 94 participants.
Rubber planting activities at the last ten holdings were completed. The first phase mortality census was carried out with plant casualty rate of 8.2% mostly due to unfavorable weather condition, wild animal/insect attack and soil erosion. Work on replacement was actively going on to maintain plant density of 500 per hectare.
Identification of soil series with UPPT staff was carried out in the month of August at five villages. It will also be carried out at five more villages in the months of September and October.
Training and guidance by Estate Bureau Committee on 13.9.2013 and was presented together with the RMT head at Puan Randiana’s plot.
An area of 81 hectares of land was planted with rubber plants. Currently, weedicide (ECOMAX) were distributed to all participants.
The participants in Kg Cekai, Kg Jelengok, Kg Meter and Kg Lancang that were infested with root disease were supplied with fungicide Stilt 25 EC (Active Ingredient Propiconazole 23%). Briefing, demonstration and practical training to participants on control of root disease was conducted at Kg Lanchang dan Kg Jelenggok. Root disease treatments were being carried out by participants under the supervision of project supervisors.
It was reported that, there were often wild boar and monkey attacks at lots in Kg Cekai, Kg Jelengok and Kg Simoi.
As of March, the growth is good due to rainy seasons. An area of 91.2 hectare has been completely planted while 6% of the holdings has been extended to ensure all 500 tress will be planted.
Pesticide (Zagro .Stilt 25 EC) 25O ml/bottle has been distributed among the participants at Kg Cekai, Kg Meter and Kg Lancahang that has been attacked by root disease. The distribution of the weedicide for the second phase with a total 97 galen to 97 participants has completed. As of March, field maintenance becoming more focused to control pruning and weedicide activities.
As of January, land clearing in an estimated area of five hectare are still ongoing and are expected to be completed by the end of March 2013. There are two participants have been relocated from the area they had cleared since it is a reserved forest. Terracing is done manually at the needed area. Participants managed to plant the rubber seedlings in an area of 91.2 hectares.
Rubber Training Centre, RTC was build by the participants in Kg Bertang, Pos Betau.
The farm road to participants’ lots was fully completed in December, pending handover by JPS. This location was visited by the staff of Pahang JPS and Lipis District JPS when work on the road was in progress.
Tree growth was reported to be good and uniform.
Termite attack was detected in three lots of the participants in Kampung Cekai and wild boar attacks were also reported in Kampung Bertang. The attacks caused several damage and destroyed trees especially “pokok sulaman”. Treatment using repellent aversion was then given and sessions of guidance on its usage were given to all those affected with the attacks.
In addition, white root diseases were also detected at the participant’s holdings at Kampung Bertang and Kampung Kabang. Treatment and immediate action was then taken by the participants.
Construction work for road to the participant’s holdings is currently conducted starting September 2014 under the supervision of JPS Lipis.

As of June, the growth of trees was good. Weed control and manuring activities were implemented according to schedule. Two lots of participants’ smallholding in Kg. Cekai and Kg. Ulu Milot were damaged due to fire. Replacement and tutoring on treatment of effects of burning were carried out. Wild boar attacks were also reported in Kg. Ulu Milot which destroyed approximately 60 trees. Treatment using repellent aversion was then used.
A few participants were reported to be less focused on their smallholdings due to the decreasing rubber price. They spent their time doing other jobs in the forest or in the nearby areas. Warning letters were issued to the participants concerned.
A total of 53 students from UPM led by Prof. Madya Dr Norsida Man visited the participants’ lots in Kg. Sarang and Kg. Cekai. They also gave demonstrations on methods of agricultural practices to GUP Betau Participants.
Fertilisation, weeds’ control and controlled pruning were implemented on March 2014, following planned schedule timeline. Reported that trees’ growth was good and the average girth is 10.3 cm for the 31 farms surveyed.
Reported that White root disease has spread amongst participants’ lot at Kapong Ulu Milot, Cekai, Bertang and Kampong Meter. Monitoring activities were implemented and lesson on detecting and controlling root disease using fungus (Stilt fungus 25 EC. Active substance Propiconazole 23.% Inactive substance 75.% ) had been done at involved participants’ farms.

Girth measurement for third year trees were done at 3 chosen village; Kg Bertang, Kg Simoi and Kg Ulu Milot. Maintenance activities and training session is still on-going according as scheduled.
Termite attack was detected in two lots of the participants in Kampung Cekai that causes the trees to fall. Besides that, there were also reports on wild boar attacks in two lots in Kampung Bertang and another report in Kg Cekai. White Root Disease was also detected at En Nordin Bah Tir holdings, participants from Kg Cekai. Stem disease was also detected at one of the participants’ holdings. Preventive measure and immediate action was then taken at the said lots.
The concept of GUP at Pos Betau has attracted the management of RPS Pos Betau and JKHOA where they have adopted the concept of GUP for their projects in an area of 242.1 hectares.
Maintenance activities were being carried out according to as scheduled. It was reported that the work for the new census diameter involving 3 villages that are Kg. Jelengok, Kg. Lancang and Kg Kuala Milot. The remaining seven villages will be completed in the fourth quarter. Tutoring of pruning control is being carried out to participants to ensure good progress of the trees.
As of June, it was reported that all field maintenance activities were done according to schedule. All seedlings were being distributed completely to participants to replace their trees which have been destroyed.
JAKOA practices and applied GUP approches in their new project in Pos Titum. In addition, some participants have been visited and briefed on the integration between rubber and Gaharu, Oil Palm, cocoa and Salak in holdings in Kg Desa Murni, Fold Kg Cheras and FELDA Jengka 16.
As of March, weed control and manuring activities were implemented according to our recommendation and schedule. It was reported that, complaints of termites attack and white root disease were received from RMT Kg Cekai, Lanchang, Bertang, Ulu Milot and Kuala Milot. However, training on pests and diseases control has been conducted for at the affected area.
There were 440 trees in one lot in Kg Kabang were damage due to fire. However, guidance and training on the treatment of effects of burning were carried out at the affected lot.
It was reported that, the maintenance work of the holdings were carried out according to schedule and the training sessions were conducted each month according to the planting phase.
Maintenance and monitoring activities were conducted as planned. Guidance and training activities were also conducted according to schedule. Termite attack were reported in Kg Bertang attacking five trees. However, preventive measures have been carried out along with the participants to control it from spreading.
Maintenance and monitoring activities are being carried out according to schedule. It was reported that termite attack has been identified in 2 villages namely Kg Kuala Milot and Kg Ulu Milot involving 50 trees. However, pests and diseases contril have been conducted in the affected área.
Girth measure activity for third year of planting is also being carried out in that área.
