Getah untuk Pribumi programme is one of MRB’s initiatives to improve national productivity to 2,000 kg/ha/year which is in line with NKEA. The objectives are:
Two Orang Asli settlements covering an area of 30.8 hectares with 49 participants are involved in GUP Negeri Sembilan. Thirty-four participants are from Kg Tohor and 15 from Kg Sg Sampo. Participants are supplied with high yielding clones such as RRIM 2025, RRIM 3001 and PB 350.
As of November, 86% of area in Kg Tohor and 29% of area in Kg Sg Sampo have been cleared as shown below. However, two participants from Kg Tohor involving an area of 1.8 hectare had quit after the land clearing process were completed.
About 11,422 rubber seedlings has been distributed and planted in Kg Tohor and the rest will be distributed in December 2012. Status of planting as shown below:-
As of September, land clearing was still ongoing. The progress on land clearing is shown below.
At Kg Tohor field lining process has already started and will be followed by planting in the middle of October.
As at July 2012, almost all fields have been cleared and about 15,400 rubber seedlings have been distributed to participants.
Weed control and fertilisation activities were fully carried out at Kg Tohor. Corrective and control pruning was done at 28 holdings in Kg Tohor and at 8 holdings in Kg Sg Sampo.
It is reported of termite and cockchafers attack at Taijuddin Asak’s holdings, Lan Any Kong’s holdings and Sari Pemangku’s holdings . Whereas scale insects and mealy bugs attack was reported at holdings of Taijudin Asak, Sanah Jan, Dul Ija dan Azuan Indeh. White root disease attack was reported at holdings of Dul Ija, Umar mait, Azuan Indeh, Daud Lagan, Ramlan Sari dan Ema Dis. Treatment was carried out for the said pest attacks and diseases infected the young rubber plants.
Only 1.0 hectare of land left for rubber planting to be completed. Work on planting was delayed due to the dry weather. The mortality rate was 4% as reported, mostly due to the termite attack. However, guidance on treatment were conducted by officers from UPT. To date, it was reported that a density of 500 plants per hectare for hilly areas and 700 plants per hectare for flat areas were maintained through continuous replacement of dead and damaged rubber plants.
As of May, an area of 26.5 hectares was cleared and 15.94 hectares was/were planted with rubber. A follow up visit by UPPT (Crop Improvement and Protection Unit) detected those plants showing signs of root disease symptom. Therefore chemical root disease treatment was supplied to the participants. Treatment and control practice was conducted by En Amir and UPPT’s staffs in Kg Tohor which involved 10 participants.
Land clearing process was conducted by new contractor, Khairol Contractor started in February 2013 and total area of 24.5 hectare clearly cleared. As of March, an area of 9.7 hectare has been completely planted with rubber seedlings and the growth of the rubber trees is good. Number of seedling distribution and “sulaman” are as shown below.
As of January, an area of 9.7 hectare at Kg Tohor and 7.8 hectare at Kg Sg Sampo has been cleared. A total of 7.4 hectare has been planted with rubber seedlings and the remaining areas are still in progress.
At Kampung Tohor, tree growth was reported to be satisfactory. The second survey on two year old plants will be carried out in January 2015. The tree growth at Kampung Sungai Sampoo was also satisfactory and as of December 2014, circumference survey of one year old plants had been done.
Maintanance activities were done according to plan. In addition, the girth measurement for rubber trees will be carried out at Kampung Sg Sampoo after the trees reaches the age of two years in October.
Trees’ growth was reported to be in good condition as of the month of June. Weed control and manuring activities were implemented according to schedule. Girth measurement of trees is still ongoing in Kg. Tohor. Lining activities in the APM site had been done and planting will be carried out at the end of July.
Training and guidance on root disease control, pruning and manuring were given to participants in this quarter and presented by representatives of the participants. One of the buildings was provided by JAKOA for refurbishment to be used as RLC to participants.
Due to the drought season in January and February, field maintenance activities were actively executed only on March 2014. Fertilisation, weeds’ control and controlled pruning were implemented according to timeline plan.
Reporting that trees’ growth is in good condition and the average girth measurement for 9 farms at Kg. Tohor was 9.84 cm. Termites and ‘kabai’ beetles attacks 4 of participants lots at Kg Tohor and recovery action have been taken to avoid it from spreading.
There were one holding that has been diagnosed with termite attack and root disease, immediate action was then taken to control the termites. In addition, in one of the participant’s lot, it was found that many trees produce more latex from the stem of PB 350 clone.
Girth measurement for the third year has been organised in 10 lots in Kg Tohor. The average diameter is 30.3 cm. Maintenance activities and training to the participants is still on-going as scheduled.
Maintenance work was carried out according to as scheduled. It was reported that one of the holdings in KOA Tohor, has been attacked by the roots disease and termite. However, precautions have been taken by using a fungicide Crest 25 (for root diseases) and Dusban to control the termite attack.
Census of shaft for the first year was made in the five holdings and the average diameter is 6.1 cm.
As of June, it was reported that all field maintenance was done according to schedule. Girth measurement has been conducted together with participants.
It was reported that there were visits from Student from Training and Development Program Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and several activities were carried out such as Technology Demonstration by the students.
As of March, weed control and manuring activities were done according to our recommendation and schedule. Girth measurement for the second year has been carried out at the participants’ lots.
It was reported that, a tree of clone RRIM 3001 has been identified with a lump. After it has been dig out, there was a small wooden cube inside the lump. The tree aged a year old and this incident happened at En Chuary bin Abu Hassan’s holding.
It was reported that, the maintenance work of the holdings were carried out according to schedule and the training sessions were conducted each month according to the planting phase. It was also reported that the Phytopthora disease and termite has attacked two of the participants’ holdings. However, precautionary measures have been taken and pest control tutoring activities have also been carried out to the participants.
Maintenance and monitoring activities were carried out as planned. Guidance and training activities were also conducted according to the planting phase or when needed.
White root disease and termite attack were reported in one of the participants lot. Phytophora leaf disease were also detected in one of the participants’ lot but the
condition is not serious. Preventive measures have been conducted to prevent the disease from spreading to other holding in the área.
Girth census also has been conducted to compare the girth between TCP and BCMP seedlings but no analysis have been done yet at the moment.
Maintenance and monitoring activities were carried out according to Schedule. It was reported complaints of termites and root diseases were recieved from En Amat (KOA Tohor) holding. However, pest and diseases control has been conducted at the affected área. Training on pests and diseases control, is still being conducted among the participants because there are still cases affecting the participants holdings.
