Fourth Quarter 2013
As of December, weed control, fertilisation and control pruning activities followed as scheduled. Girth census of rubber was done at 7 participants’ holdings namely E. Zen bin Nong, En. Delu bin Kuna, En. Aton Bin Nukar, En. Ishak bin Dek, En. Sehat bin Sadin, En. Sidek Bin Hanapiah and En. Zamri bin Abas.
On 2 December 2013, the district of Segamat was hit by a major flood that affected Kampung Orang Asli Segamat Kechil. The holdings belong to En. Aton bin Nukar, Zen bin Nong, Sehat bin Sadin and Razali bin Seman were among those affected by the flood. The damage not only affected the young rubber plants but also the basic facilities such as the fences, drum containers and resting sheds and basic utensils such as hoes and sickles that were carried away by the currents.
The damaged fences have resulted in village cattle raid of the rubber plants during the night. Among the holdings raided by cattle are holdings belong to En. Sehat bin Sadin, Razali bin Seman, En. Aton bin Nukar and En Jamil bin Lima. It is reported that there are about 488 rubber plants were damaged.
Among the rehabilitation measures taken was straightening and provide support to the slightly fallen rubber plants and cover and compact the exposed roots. The totally damaged plants will be replaced from time to time.

Third Quarter 2013
An Area of 15.6 hectare was planted completely in GUP Johor. The first phase mortality census was done with plant casualty rate of 4.3% mostly due to wild boar attack and dry weather. To date it was reported that the density of surviving live plants at 557 per hectare. The replacement is ongoing in order to maintain density of rubber plants at 500 and 700 per hectare on hilly and flat terrain respectively.
Census on girth to be taken at one year after planting was done on two holdings belonging to En Zen bin Nong and En Delu bin Kuna. The rate of plant growth (girthing) was satisfactory.

All area of participant’s holding was completely planted and about 630 rubber plants at En. Rahmat’s holding that were destroyed by cows has been replaced.
Field maintenance was actively done at participant’s holdings. However, 2 lots were detected with scale insects attack. Practical training on treatment and control of pest especially mealy bugs and scale insects was conducted at En Delu bin Kuna’s holdings which involved off all participants. 13 bottles of the pesticide, Albarol White Oil for scale insects and mealy bugs treatment were distributed to the participants.

First Quarter 2013
As of March, a total 2,965 rubber seeds has been distributed to participants that consist of clone PB 350 (70%) and RRIM 3000. Additional seeds planting in holdings of En. Zen bin Nong, En. Sahad bin Sata, En. Ishak bin Dik dan En. Rahmat din Md. Yasin are still in progress.
Second phase of fertiliser has been supplied to participants. Manuring activities are still in progress and the weedicide activities will start once the weedicide being distributed the next month.

However, some participants location of new additional seed planting activities suffer extreme dryness condition due to inclement weather. Discussions were conducted with the Director of MRB Southern Region and they agreed to provide 1 liter barrels/200 to each participant.

As of January, land clearing and terracing in an area of 0.52 hectare is still ongoing. Almost all seedlings were distributed and planted.
Participants have started manuring and weeding since December 2012 in their respective areas. It was reported that, about 200 cows have entered into the holding owned by En Rahmat b Md Yasin and destroyed about 630 newly planted rubber trees.
