Materials Characterization Unit at Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia
(RRIM), headed by Dr Faridah Hanim Ab Hanan, provides analytical services
for the Research Centre, and to external clients.
The
unit has been accredited to MS ISO/IEC 17025 for the testing and calibration
laboratories under the 'Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia (SAMM)'. Most
of the methods for analysis adopted have gain accreditation to MS
ISO/IEC 17025 via Department of Standards Malaysia, the national accreditation
body, and all investigations are performed to the highest level of
analytical integrity.
The
laboratory of RRIM regularly conduct round robin and latex cross check,
participate in soil, plant and fertilizer cross check to ensure that
high level of precision and accuracy of test methods adopted are maintained.
A wide spectrum of analytical techniques utilising sophisticated and computerised equipments, manned by qualified and experienced staffs are readily available to serve our clients' numerous demands and expectations.
Materials Characterization Unit is actively involved in test method development to widen the base of specialized analytical testing services. The technical staff comprising of postgraduates and graduates work in specific areas of analytical expertise and are particularly adept at relating results obtained from sophisticated equipment to practical technological problems within the rubber product manufacturing and consuming industry.
We
can assist with:
• formulation analysis
• specification certification
• surface defects
• contamination
In addition to offering a wide range of analytical
services which can be individually tailored to the client's particular
requirements, we also offer advice on:
• the setting up of analytical facilities, particularly
for quality and process control
• training of personnel in the use of specific analytical instruments and techniques as well as consultation towards gaining the accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025.
Our activities are not restricted solely to rubber
and rubber-related problems. Most of the equipment can be used in
other areas of analysis such as:
• chemical identification
• purity assessment
Training
Other services available include advice on the setting up of analytical facilities, particularly for quality and process control, and the training of personnel in the use of specific analytical instruments and techniques. Certificates of training can be provided.
