  RRIM DRC Laboratory in Kedah

A new Dry Rubber Content (DRC) Test Laboratory has been set-up by MRB in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The laboratory is located within the grounds of the newly established MRB State Office for Kedah, Perlis and Pulau Pinang in Sungai Petani. Called the RRIM DRC Test Laboratory, it was declared open recently by Y.B. Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui, Honourable Minister for Plantation Industries and Commodities.

The Laboratory is equipped with up-to-date scientific equipment to conduct Dry Rubber Content tests on latex samples. The Laboratory also uses DRC-eLiMS (DRC- electronic Laboratory Information Management System), a computerised laboratory management system developed by MRB. Currently, MRB receives some 3000 latex samples for DRC testing monthly. DRC-eLiMS has successfully reduced the time required for the entire test process by more than 60 percent.

With the setting-up of the RRIM DRC Test Laboratory in Kedah, all latex samples derived from Kastam Diraja Malaysia in the northern states of Peninsula Malaysia that require DRC testing by MRB can now be conducted in Sungai Petani, Kedah. Prior to this, latex samples were sent to the MRB Laboratory in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
