Revenue from Licensing Activity in Pahang

One of the main activities at the regional level by MRB offices concerns licensing and enforcement. Altogether there are 5 categories of licenses issued by the MRB Regional Office based in Kuantan, Pahang. These are License A (i) (ii) - for buying and selling rubber; License A(ii) - solely for selling rubber; License B - for the preservation of rubber; License C - buying of rubber for manufacturing; and License D - for growing, budgrafting and planting of rubber. Up till 31 March 2009, there were total of 877 license holders in Pahang. Out of that total 739 are A(i)(ii) license holders, 103 License A(ii), 12 License B, 2 are holders of License C and 21 holds License D. Each license holder is required to pay a yearly fee of RM400 for License A(i)(ii), RM200 for License A(ii), and RM500 for License B, C and D respectively.

It is stipulated that all revenue collected from the issuance of licenses, rightfully belongs to the State Government. Therefore, for the year 2008, the collection from the licensing activity in Pahang totalled RM 271,575.00 less 15% service charge imposed by MRB.

A ceremony to hand over the cheque was held on 19 May 2009 in Kuantan, Pahang. On hand to receive the cheque from the MRB Director General, Dato' Dr Kamarul Baharain Basir was the representative of the Pahang State Secretary, Dato' Abdul Kadir bin Awang. The ceremony was witnessed by the Seceretary General of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities.
