  New IRRDB Workshop on Tapping

An international Workshop on Latex Harvesting Technologies is being organised by the International Rubber Research Development Board (IRRDB) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The IRRDB is a research and development network which brings together the natural rubber research institutes from 20 natural rubber producing countries.

A total of 130 participants from various parts of the world are attending the Workshop, namely from Africa, Europe, South America, China and South-east Asia.

Objectives of the Workshop include (i) develop new technologies for tapping and collection (ii) evolve strategies to make tapping an attractive profession (iii) revise the international tapping notations, and (iv) identify problems and find solutions for socio-economic issues in implementing new exploitation technologies.

The Workshop is hosted by the Malaysian Rubber Board and is being held from 5 - 8 May 2008.
