	IRC2008 Launched The The most respected event in the world's rubber industry calendar, the International Rubber Conference 2008 or IRC2008, was launched by Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, on 5 May 2008 in Kuala Lumpur. "The IRC2008 will be held from 20-23 October 2008 in Kuala Lumpur", he said. He also announced that two other events will be held concurrently namely IRCEXPO 2008 and Short Courses on two specialised topics. Datuk Peter Chin said that IRC2008 will be an international meeting point for all those working in the field of rubber and polymer industries all over the world to interact and discuss new findings in rubber and polymer science and technology. "It will also be an excellent environment for stimulating exchange of knowledge, opinions and information among colleagues", added Datuk Peter Chin. The IRC2008 provides an opportunity to the Malaysian scientists to present their research findings at the international platform and will assist to promote Malaysian rubber products in the global market. Datuk Peter Chin also urged the private sector to continue to work closely with the agencies and councils under the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities to improve productivity and work on product innovations with the aim of increasing the export competitiveness of our primary commodities. back
