Grand Opening of MRB Rubber Engineering Laboratory in TARRC, UK

On April 11, 2019, Tun Abdul Razak Research Center (TARRC) officially opened the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) Rubber Engineering Laboratory at Brickendonbury, Hertford. The ceremony was officiated by YBrs. Mr Sankara N. Nair, Chairman of MRB. Also present were YBhg. Dato' Dr Zairossani Mohd Nor, Director General of MRB, Dr Fauzi Mohd Som, Chief Executive Officer of TARRC, as well as Mr Yeaw Kok Kwey and Mr Wan Ahmad Asmady Wan Md Din, Board Members of TARRC.

This laboratory was established as a research and testing centre for seismic rubber bearings to benefit communities affected or prone to the earthquake through research, testing resources and information. In addition, it can also further expand and promote the use of MRB and TARRC technologies to the world.

With the expertise of the MRB and TARRC engineers, a new technology in the form of a testing machine was built to test the earthquake at full scale and is capable of performing on large compositions. This research could lessen the impact of damage on important structures especially high-rise buildings, hospitals, bridges, etc.

MRB and TARRC are the pioneer in developing natural rubber-based products and have been working together for four decades to improve and develop rubber technology. Both also play important roles in research and development to protect building structures from damages caused by earthquakes.
