54th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Rubber Exchange (MRE)

The 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Malaysian Rubber Exchange (MRE) was held on 3rd August 2017 at the Conference Room, Malaysian Rubber Board, Kuala Lumpur. The meeting was chaired by YBrs Dr Hj Suarni Sumormo, Deputy Director General (Policy & Operations) of Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) cum Deputy Chairman of the MRE Management Committee. The event received encouraging support as more than 40 MRE members attended the meeting. Among the main agenda was a presentation of MRE activities from 2016-2017, proposed MRE activities for 2018 as well as a discussion on rubber trade issues.

In conjunction with the 54th AGM, two briefings sessions were organised by MRE. The first briefing session titled “Introduction to Enforcement of MRE Arbitral Awards in Foreign Countries under the New York Convention” was presented by Mr Tee Geok Hock, from the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre of Arbitration (KLRCA). This briefing session was also attended by Panel of Arbitrators and Committee for Dispute Resolution (CDR) of the MRE. The objective of the first session was to familiarise Panel of Arbitrators and MRE members with the procedural aspects of the arbitration process as well as to provide information on the procedure of the enforcement of MRE Arbitration Award in foreign countries. The second briefing session titled “Spurring Growth Through Malaysia’s Human Capital” was delivered by Ms Farah Delah Suhaimi Kumed Suresh, from Talent Corporation Malaysian Berhad (Talent Corp). The main objective of the briefing was to convey Talent Corp’s initiative to partner with rubber industry companies in meeting talent needs.

Deputy Director General (Policy & Operations) of Malaysian Rubber Board cum Deputy Chairman of the MRE Management Committee made his opening remarks.

The 54th Annual General Meeting on 3 August 2017 received encouraging response from MRE Members.
