Briefing on Issues Related to Commodities to Members of Parliament Malaysia

On 25 July 2017, a briefing on issues related to commodities was organized by the Ministry Of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) at the Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Present at the programme were YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of MPIC, YB Datuk Datu Nasrun bin Datu Mansur, Deputy Minister of MPIC, Members of Parliament Malaysia, agencies and councils under the Ministry. Also present were YB Dato’ Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad, Chairman of MRB, YBrs Dr Zairossani Mohd Nor, Deputy Director General (Research & Innovation) MRB and YBrs Dr Suarni Sumormo, Deputy Director General (Policy & Operations) MRB.

The session started with a welcoming speech by YB Minister of MPIC and presentations by agencies and councils of MPIC including MRB, MPOB, MPOCC and MPOC. Among the issues presented were the “European Union Resolutions on Palm Oil & Tropical Forestry”, “Private Palm Oil Incentives Scheme”, “Implementation of Sustainable Palm Oil Malaysia Certification Scheme” and “Bantuan Musim Tengkujuh” (BMT) to rubber smallholders delivered by YBrs Dr Suarni Sumormo, Deputy Director General (Policy & Operations) of MRB.

Briefing on Bantuan Musim Tengkujuh (BMT) by YBrs Dr Suarni Sumormo, Deputy Director General (Policy & Operations) of MRB and Q&A session with all presenters among others include YBrs Dr Ahmad Kushairi Din, Director General MPOB, Mr Harnarinder Singh CEO of MOPCC and YBrs Dr Ruslan Abdullah, Director, Science & Environment Division MPOC.
