YB Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, the Minister of Malaysian Plantation Industries and Commodities, officiated the Hello Komoditi programme on 12 May 2012 at Tamparuli, Sabah. The objective of the programme is the show what is possible in the commodity sector so that people can see for themselves and perhaps get interested and involved in this sector. YB Tan Sri, in his speech pointed out that the plantation and the commodities sector is among the main contributors to the country’s export earnings. In 2011, Malaysia’s revenue derived from commodities export was RM141.2 billion or 24% higher than the RM114.2 billion in 2010. This revenue contributed 20.3% towards the overall country’s export earnings.
The Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) participated in the entrepreneur seminar and also in the exhibition. The top management of MRB including the Director General, Datuk Dr Salmiah Ahmad and Dr Mohd Akbar Md Said, the Deputy Director General (Research and Innovation) participated in this programme.
