Ministry Consultation with Rubber Industry Players

The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) organised a programme “Konsultasi Industri Komoditi 2012” for the rubber industry on 27 June 2012. The objective of this consultation is to engage the rubber industry on challenges facing the industry towards further developing this important pillar of the commodity industry. This engagement allowed the Ministry to coordinate with the other Government agencies in addressing pertinent issues of concern towards sustainable development of the rubber industry. This is also in line with the Government’s aspiration to engage all the relevant stakeholders towards ensuring a vibrant and resilient rubber industry, which will continue to contribute towards economic development.

The session was chaired by YB Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. The industry has proposed discussion on 19 issues from 8 rubber industry associations and covers several issues from R&D, environment, incentives, and licenses to common issues, such as delivery system and labour shortage.
