A delegation from the Federation of the Rubber Trade Associations of Malaysia (FRTAM), the Malaysian SMR Rubber Processors Association (MSRPA) and the Malaysian Concentrate Latex Producers Association (MCLPA) paid a courtesy call to the Director General of the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) on 14 June 2012. The associations’ delegation was led by YBhg Datuk Harris Mathews from the Sabah Rubber Fund Board. The purpose of the visit was to discuss on the issues raised by these associations and the cooperation and collaboration between MRB and the associations. Among the issues raised include the future direction of the Malaysian NR industry, environmental concerns and raw material contamination. MRB presented two talks to the delegation and they were presented by Dr Suarni Sumormo, Deputy Director General (Policy and Operations) on the rubber sector in “National Key Economic Area (NKEA)” and Dr Zairossani Mohd Nor, Director of Technology & Engineering Division on “Malodour Control in Processing Factories”.
YBhg Datuk Dr Salmiah, stressed that the Management of the MRB will continue to assist the associations in the issues raised and to give assistance to the private sector to facilitate their business and operations. MRB will engage the associations in any new policies or strategies to be introduced that will have an impact on their business.
