  Dr Kamarul Baharain appointed Director General Malaysian Rubber Board

The Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Kamarul Baharain bin Basir as the Director General of MRB with effect from 1 January 2006. Dr Kamarul succeeds Datuk Abdul Hamid bin Sawal who retired on 31 December 2005.

Dr Kamarul’s impressive career development, achievements in the academic arena, and involvement in scientific projects and innovations have contributed to his meteoric rise. An engineer by profession , prior to this appointment, Dr Kamarul was the Deputy Director General (R&D). Dr Kamarul will now have a challenging task of managing more than 170 scientists and administrators in MRB in various scientific and administrative disciplines. MRB being an important research centre on rubber, Dr Kamarul feels that funds utilised on R&D must be translated to tangible output. Hence, to achieve this goal, he looks forward for support and co-operation of all scientists, administrators and staff of MRB.

Dr Kamarul Baharain bin Basir was born in Perak on 6 February 1952.
