  Highlights of the 7th ASEAN Rubber Business Council Assembly

The Rubber Association of Indonesia (GAPKINDO) hosted the 7th ASEAN Rubber Business Council (ARBC) Assembly which was held on 28 July July 2007 in Jakarta, Indonesia in conjunction with Gapkindo's annual dinner on 27 July 2007. Members of the Council, comprising of the Rubber Association of Indonesia (GAPKINDO), the Thai Rubber Association (TRA), the Rubber Trade Association of Singapore (RTAS), Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA), Association for Rubber Development of Cambodia (ARDC) and the Malaysian Rubber Exchange/Federation of Rubber Trade Associations of Malaysia (MRE/FRTAM) attended the Assembly.

Issues discussed at the Assembly included the revised draft IRA International Contracts for TSR 20 and Latex in Drum and trade matters pertaining to the interest of the ARBC members. Respective association representatives briefed on the current trade situation and measures to restrain errant parties in the event of non-conformance of contracts were discussed. Divergences of NR statistics among producing countries was highlighted and the Assembly proposed the establishment of an Inter-agency Statistics Coordinating Committee.

Prior to the ARBC Assembly, the members of the Industry Discipline Committee and the Economics and Statistics of the ARBC met earlier on 27 July 2007 at the same venue.
