Working Visit By Yb Chairman Of MRB to Pos Tuel

A working visit by YB Dato 'Haji Ahmad Nazlan Idris (DIMP) Chairman of the Malaysian Rubber Board to the Post Tuel Getah untuk Pribumi (GUP) project programme was held on 29 June 2020. The visit was also graced by MRB Management as well as senior officials.

Getah untuk Pribumi (GUP) is an initiative of the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) to develop the country's rubber industry through the National Key Economic Area (NKEA). The initiative aims to enable the Indigenous community who are unable to participate in new planting programmes for various reasons, in an effort to develop their own wasteland with high quality rubber plants and clones. It can directly prevent them from using low quality rubber seeds while stimulating the cultivation of high quality clones produced by MRB. This initiative has received a very positive response from the indegenious community in the Peninsula as well as in Sabah and Sarawak.

As of 31 December 2019, GUP participants throughout Malaysia include 511 participants with a crop area of 580.26 hectares and in Pos Tuel particularly, a total of 76 participants have been selected to participate in this programme.

The Chairman of MRB hopes that this GUP project will succeed in providing a new perspective among the indigenous community in improving their socio-economic activities which previously depended on forest products.
