Nanocomposites of Natural Rubber and Cellulose II: Comparison between Different Processes of Preparation Regina C.R. Nunes, Agnes F. Martins, Leila L.Y. Visconte, Romeu A. Pereira, Carlos A.C. Perez and Eloisa B. Mano Nanocomposites of natural rubber (NR) and cellulose II were prepared by co-coagulation of natural latex and cellulose xanthate mixtures using two processes, differing in the order of addition of the polymeric mixture and coagulating solution. The cellulose II content was varied from 0 p.h.r. to 30 p.h.r. in both cases. The influence of increasing amounts of the filler was investigated by rheometric and mechanical methods, and by wide angle X-ray scattering during uniaxial stretching. In both processes the best performance was achieved by the addition of 15 p.h.r. cellulose II although different properties were found in the composites. |
